Cellphones
Also known as Keitai, these are awefully useful. After completing your things at the civic Hall, walk about two blocks down to the large Samito grocery that was in the direction you came from. Enter, go up to the second floor. Look at the cellphones. Then, ask which ones have English capabilities. The cellphones are confusing enough that you don't need Japanese to help make your life more confusing. It will take about an hour to activate, so go down to the lower floors to shop while your cellphone is getting prepared. The cellphone may be free, but one thing that doesn't come with the cellphone is the charger. You'll have to buy it separatly. With AU phones, you get 50% off as a student, so show your student I.D. some of the cellphone people may not let you get the discount until you get the normal student I.D. in September.
